Accessibility Statement

Our commitment to accessibility

We consider it important to make this website accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities and older adults, so that every person can browse the site, read its content and get in touch independently, equally and comfortably.

The site was built with the aim of meeting the Israeli Equal Rights for Persons with Disabilities Regulations (Service Accessibility Adjustments), 2013, and Israeli Standard SI 5568 for web content accessibility at level AA, which is based on the international Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) of the W3C. Making the site accessible is an ongoing process, and we keep reviewing and improving it.

Accessibility features implemented on the site

  • Semantic structure: hierarchical headings and marked page regions (header, navigation, main content and footer). The language and reading direction are set on every page, for each language of the site.

  • Skip link: every page starts with a "Skip to content" link that moves directly to the main content.

  • Keyboard operation: menus, search, pop-up windows and the image gallery can be used with the keyboard alone. Tab moves between elements, Enter and Space activate them, Esc closes menus and windows, and the arrow keys switch images in the gallery.

  • Focus indication: a prominent outline is shown around the active element during keyboard navigation.

  • Moving between pages: when a new page loads, screen readers are told the page name and focus moves to the main heading of the page.

  • Forms: every field has an associated label, required fields are marked, and error messages are linked to the field with the error. After an invalid submission, focus moves to the first field that needs correction, and the success message is announced by screen readers.

  • Site search: the search field is exposed to assistive technologies, and the number of results is announced.

  • Screen size and text enlargement: the design is responsive, and the browser can enlarge the text and the page without restriction.

  • Light and dark display modes: a button at the top of the page switches between light and dark mode, and the default follows the device setting.

  • Reduced motion: when the device is set to reduce motion, animations and smooth scrolling are turned off.

  • Images and icons: alternative text can be entered for every image in the site's management system. Icon buttons have an accessible name, and decorative icons are hidden from screen readers.

  • Content components: questions and answers appear in expandable sections that work with the keyboard, and the cookie notice can be operated with the keyboard and does not block browsing.

Browsers and assistive technologies

The site was built on open web standards and is intended to work with current versions of the common browsers (Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari) on computers and mobile devices, and with common screen readers such as NVDA, JAWS and VoiceOver. We recommend using the latest version of your browser and screen reader.

Known limitations

Despite our efforts, some parts of the site may not yet be fully accessible. These are the limitations known to us:

  • Images from the previous website: some images transferred from the previous website, mainly in content pages and articles, still have no alternative text. We are adding it gradually.

  • PDF files: older PDF files, mainly press clippings on the media pages, may not be tagged, and some are scans that screen readers cannot read.

  • Audio recordings: the radio recordings on the Radio page have no written transcript.

  • YouTube videos: captions and transcripts of embedded videos depend on the channel that uploaded them, are not under our control, and are missing in some cases.

  • Tables in older content: in some tables transferred from the previous website, column headers are not fully marked up.

  • Third-party services: maps, videos, links to social networks and WhatsApp are operated by external providers, whose accessibility is their responsibility.

You may request content from the site in an alternative accessible format, or phone assistance with completing a form, free of charge. Please contact us using the details below.
